Alice Cooper - Nottingham
Arena
11.11.2007 Support Bands - Joan Jet & The Blackhearts and Motorhead I was really, really excited about this gig. A great line up for the right price and having seen Motorhead before I knew it would be value for money. Unfortunately, the mood changed when we found out that Motorhead couldn't make it. Mikkey Dee's son was taken ill and, although, personally I was sad they couldn't play, I did spend my last gig watching how fast the drummer could play so it wouldn't have been the same without him. I must say that it is good to see a band that cares about their family members that much. Anyway, I hope Mikkey's son is feeling better and that Motorhead won't leave it to long before they return to Nottingham for a gig. Joan Jet & The Blackhearts tried to get the audience warmed up for Alice with a longer set but despite an excellent performance it was quite clear that the majority were there to see Motorhead. What can I say about Alice Cooper?? I really didn't know what to expect and to be honest, if I told you about his show it would be like spoiling a movie. I would say that Alice Cooper is the Vincent Price of the music world as The Psycho Drama Tour reminded me of a Hammer Horror movie and, being a horror fan, I was amazed at the amount of effort that was put into the B movie atmosphere to run alongside these songs. I would recommend Alice Cooper to any serious Horror film fan. I only wished that I had known about the concert earlier so I could have got tickets closer to the stage. My
only criticism with this gig was that the sound could have been a lot clearer
and for Alice's performance a big screen could have been beneficial.
Having never been to a gig at Nottingham Arena before, I don't know whether this
is the norm or whether they were just having a bad day.
