The Bad Shepherds - The Intake Club, Mansfield

19.12.2008

What an amazing gig.  Ad Edmondson and his flock are a talented bunch.  We entered the room to see an array of acoustic musical instruments on the stage.  These included a mandolin, a fiddle, a selection of whistles and pipes, and some musical instruments that I just can not name.

Playing songs we all know in ways we've never heard, this gig was not only great to listen to but was extremely funny and a pleasant change for the norm.  It'll never be quite what you expect but you enjoy it immensely.  The best part is trying to guess what song is coming next and then the hilarious realization as it becomes apparent and you can't help but sing along.

Don't go there expecting stand up comedy from Ad Edmondson, that's not what this is about but, despite this, his humor is present through out the whole gig and is only added to by his and the rest of the Shepherd's talent with their musical instruments and harmonies.

I could watch them over and over again and highly recommend you get your ticket if they come round you way.
