Glastonwick Beer, Poetry and Music Festival

Good beer, tasty food, great entertainment, beautiful weather and a fantastic location.  What more could you ask for in a beer, poetry and music festival – Glastonwick 2007 had it all.

The campsite was set in the scenic valley grounds of Church Farm, Coombes with superb facilities, even a shower, and there was plenty of space for tents and cars.  Of course, if you aren’t a camper and prefer to be in a comfortable bed at night, buses were laid on by the organisers to drop people off in Shoreham and Brighton where B&B availability was high for those that didn’t live there.

Unlike other beer festivals, Glastonwick thrives not only on the great selection of beer and cider but on great entertainment from bands and poets.  Organiser, Atilla the Stockbroker brings bands/poets in from all over the country to play putting together an extravaganza of entertainment that people of all ages can enjoy, including children.  Adding to this with his own distinct brand of left-wing poetry.

The food served from the van onsite was a little limited for choice but never-the-less served very tasty and top quality food; offering Chicken Curry, Veggie Chilli and both meat and veggies options of burgers and hotdogs from 11am onwards.  Breakfast was just a short walk down the road to a small café set near some fishing lakes.

Glastonwick was a winner with me and so many others, having sold out on Friday and Saturday before the event and Sunday saw an excellent end to the festival with Verbal Warning playing right up until the last bus was ready to leave.  Beer and cider was also sold in take away plastic jugs.  Glastonwick had thought of everything.

I shall definitely be re-visiting this festival again next year and I highly recommend that you do too.
