Support Bands - Matt

Support band was a guy called Matt.  I can't really say much about him.  He was a bit like every other guy with and acoustic guitar and the songs, luckily only 4 but really long songs, did start to bore me and make me feel sleepy.  Not really the warm up you'd expect.

Despite the warm up being a cool down Los Mondo Bongo were fabulous, getting the crowd to wake up and sing along.  Featuring the front man from The Alarm, Mike Peters with Smiley and Pablo Cook from the Mescaleros.  On Bass Derek Forbes from Simple Minds and Gary Numan's guitarist Steve Harris playing a mean guitar.  The wasn't your normal gig, these guys were playing tribute to the fantastic Mr Joe Strummer and I can truly say that they did him and The Clash justice.  It was a fantastic set with songs from The Clash and Mescaleros.  Mike Peters singing was so close to Joe Strummer's that you could close you eyes and imagine him in the room.
