22.09.2006 Support Bands - Goldblade / The Osaka Popstar & the American Legends of Punk I really was really looking forward to this gig. With Goldblade supporting and an appearance by some punk icons at the end it was going to be a truly rewarding gig. What a nightmare journey! After hold up upon hold up we finally found the the venue and were disappointed to see that we had arrived at the end of Goldblade's set with only 2 songs to go. The Plug is a great venue and to prove this, it was packed. The Misfits being legendary also added to it's popularity. I had already been told that only two of the original members still played with the band but this didn't break my excitement to see them, until they started playing that is. After listening to there CDs I couldn't believe utterly terrible there performance was and after the awful journey to get there, I wished I had turned back. The Misfits are one band that I would suggest you stick with the CD and forget the live performance. Thankfully though, I had the Osaka Popstar and the American Legends of Punk to save the day. Performing some excellent covers of favourite punk songs the band consisted of punk legends: Osaka Popstar himself, John Cafiero joined by Marky Ramone (Ramones for a short while), Jerry Only (The Misfits), Dez Cadena (Black Flag) and Ivan Julian (Richard Hell and the Voidoids). This definitely made the journey worthwhile.
