Daytime
TV - What a load of rubbish! Daytime
TV. Has anyone seen daytime TV just lately. Well, I was on a few
well earned days away from work this week (yes I do have a day job) and while
breaking from proof reading my nearly finished novel I caught a glimpse of some
of the rubbish that’s showing during the day. It makes me glad that I
have other stuff to keep me busy. It seems to be an arrangement of reality
dating programs or chat shows. Never have I seen so much totally shallow
rubbish in my life. My
first lunchtime I watched a few minutes of Dinner Date. The is where a
single man gets invited round three single ladies for an evening meal and then
after the evening meals he has to decide which lucky lady gets to come out with
him to a restaurant for some slap up grub. These three ladies have to
prepare a menu, cook the meal and entertain the lazy man who at the end of it
does nothing but criticise and complain. On the evening that he makes his
choice he goes round and picks up the lucky winner for their slap up grub.
The worst thing about it is that these poor stupid ladies all get ready to go
out on the night in question, wasting God knows how many hours pampering
themselves for a night out with ‘Lazy’ boy and two of then are let down by
opening their front door to a ready meal. On my
second lunchtime I was introduced to a program called Beauty and the Geek.
Luckily I didn’t catch all of this program but from what I can tell the
program organisers put together one ‘beautiful’ dumb person with one
‘ugly’ brainy person. In the round I saw the Beauty has to answer
intellectual questions and the Geek has to answer beauty/celebrity questions and
as Brucie would say 'Didn't they do well?" Not! On watching
this program I just couldn’t believe how thick the so-called Beauty
contestants were. Luckily I spared myself anymore misery with this tragic
program by flicking through the movie channels, picking up the movie “Space
Cowboys” and watching the end of yet again. It's a good film but I would
really like a half an hour program that's interesting to watch while having my
lunch. At least for my evening meal I can enjoy an episode of
Eggheads. However, I must say that CJ is a complete plonker! I do remember a time when at lunchtimes you would get a quiz show on while you had your dinner. Obviously the beautiful dumb people are taking over the world of TV as we have forgone our entertaining, brain-challenging quiz shows for the crap that I have described above. I think it’s time we put the brains back in charge of our TV entertainment. P.S. I've heard that X-Factor is on our screens again this weekend. After last year, I don't think that I will be tuning in. Besides, Sky 1 have got a much better reality music program called Must Be The Music in which people can actually play instruments and sing properly. I suggest if you want to watch something then that's the better one out of the two.
