Speed Bumps

Speed Bumps - Menace or Necessity?  Well, what can I say.  As well as myself, I know several people who have had to have new exhausts put on their cars this month due to speed bumps. Why can't they get it right?  They started off just out the front of schools.  Personally, I think that's a good idea but then they seemed to spread like the infamous Russian Vine.  Popping up here, there and everywhere.  The ones that go straight across the road aren't too much of a problem unless they are built up too high, then you may need a 4x4 to climb them.  It seems to be the ones that are just 2 raised two squares, one on each side of the road that are the biggest menace.  These are the ones that appear to do the most damage to car exhausts as it doesn't seem to matter how slow or what angle you take them they still scrape the exhaust. If that's not enough then you have got to tackle the ones that aren't maintained well i.e. no white markings to make you aware they're there.  Unless you travel that way every day then you are in for a big surprise as your little Ford Focus takes to the sky.  Shame it hasn't got wings because then you could avoid this roadway menace all the time.  What do you think?  Speed bumps, no Speed bumps or should someone design an exhaust friendly kind.  Are speed bumps designed by Kwik Fit and other exhaust companies?  Let me know your views.
