Shutter Island

I was really looking forward to a twisty, edge of seat Scorsese thriller but as the film started I realised that with every step it was becoming too easy to stay one step ahead and by 20 minutes into the film I had guessed the entire plot.  Despite a having a brilliant array of stars including Leonardo Dicaprio and Ben Kingsley I couldn’t help but feel cheated out of what could have been a brilliant movie.  What should have been subtle clues throughout were actually blatantly obvious to even the worst of plot guessers, there were no jumpy or shocking parts and the edge of the seat was far from me sitting on it until the very end when I was dying to get up and do my washing up from tea.  I would say it’s worth a watch but be prepared to be disappointed if you watch the trailers before hand because they don’t portray the film as what it is.  In my opinion it is a predictable disappointment of a film.

4/10
