Verbal Warning - Red Star Radio

With some of the songs on this album being kept secret from fans until the release I think fans and Verbal Warning Virgins are all going to be pleasantly surprised by Verbal Warning’s 2nd album Red Star Radio.  Unlike everyone else I have had a chance to hear the songs as the recording was happening and the decisions being made.  I have already chosen my absolute favourite on the album and that is ‘Your Cities Will Burn’ and with a catchy tune I reckon that you won’t be able to get the lyrics out of your head for days.  The lyrics, whether humorous or serious are written in a way that gets the point across to the audience without the feeling of being dictated to.  The cover making an appearance on Red Star Radio is ‘500 Miles’ originally done by the Proclaimers and although it is a brilliant cover version, it’s not as original as the John Denver cover, ‘Jet Plane’ on ‘A Kick in the Verbals’ because so many other bands have covered this famous Proclaimers track on there albums already.  As with all albums in my collection, and probably yours, there’s always a track that you’re not keen on and that is ‘Someone Somewhere’ but I can say that this is the only track that I will skip every time it comes on and with 11 other incredibly catchy tunes on the album including ‘A Ploy Named Sue’ and ‘Z-list Celebrity’ you’ll be able to forgive the guys for this one.  With all 12 tracks making Verbal Warning’s first appearance on I-Tunes, it’s now an easier buy for those who don’t leave the house much but with the brilliant artwork I think this is definitely one you should purchase a hard copy of for your collection.

About the band:

What a fantastic old school punk band from the heart of Nottingham.  Live gigs are a mixture of songs written by the band and cover versions of some of our favourite punk anthems from The Ramones, The Clash and Green Day.  If you haven't had the chance to go see them then make time because they are well worth a visit.  Once you have seen the first time you will definitely be coming back for more.  Check out the Verbal Warning Website for gigs dates, tunes, Merchandise including there ALBUM 'A kick in the Verbals' and other information about the band.  To buy/listen to a single go to www.indiestore.com/verbalwarning.
