H. G. Wells - The War of
the Worlds Want a book that will take you to another time, take you away from wherever you are and place you in the midst of a situation you can do nothing about? If you are replying yes, then this book is for you. I remember the first time I read this book. It was when I lived in Suffolk many years ago. I couldn't drive, so I had to catch an hour and a half long bus journey into work everyday. The two times a day I opened this book, I was no longer on this bus journey, I was trying to stay alive while the world was be annihilated by aliens. This is not like any of the movies, that were produced with this book in mind. This book was first published in 1898 and is based in England, not America as the films have shown it. A brilliant writer, excellent book and so ahead of it's time. 9/10
