Sweet Medicine

You were my rainbow on those rainy days,

You brightened up the sky,

You shone like stars on a very the dark night,

You turned out to be a lie.

As time went by I trusted you,

Believed all that you said,

And now I find out it was all just fun,

And I wish that you were dead.

Instead I take a packet of pills,

And a bottle of sweet sweet wine,

I’m going to take this ‘medicine’,

Because you’ve taken away my shine.

I thought our love was special,

I thought our love was true,

Until I saw you standing there with her,

And she was kissing you.

I pretended I hadn’t seen you,

Acted as if nothing was wrong,

But cannot live with this lying,

It’s been going on too long.

So I climb into bed beside you,

The ‘medicine’ doing its job,

You wrap your arms around me,

And I begin to sob.

The moral of this story is,

Don’t lie to those you care for,

Because things will take a turn for the worse,

And it’ll be you who feels it more.
